Hospice volunteers are a valued part of the hospice team. Volunteers can fill roles that range from direct contact with patients to providing clerical support for the company.

Medicare requires that their certified hospice facilities utilize volunteers alongside their paid clinical and administrative staff.

Most hospice volunteers describe their work as gratifying and emotionally meaningful.

Some of the ways a direct care volunteer can help:
  • Reading or just talking to a patient
  • Staying with a patient while their family member is out of the house
  • Delivering supplies to the patient
  • Providing companionship when the patient is alone
  • Help care for a family pet
  • Child care assistance
Some of the ways an administrative volunteer can help:
  • Typing
  • Answering the phones
  • Filing
  • Preparing mailings
If you would like to be a hospice volunteer for Angelic Hospice, please print the application available on this website and fax it to 609-822-7980 or email it to admin@angelichospice.net.

Our volunteers must be over the age of 18. Volunteers must wait six months after the death of a loved one to provide direct patient care services. Volunteers must submit to a background check. To ensure that volunteers are equipped for the challenge of working with the terminally ill, our volunteers are required to complete extensive orientation and in-service training sessions.
